Katsina State Governor and State Coordinator of the Presidential Campaign Council, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has described Kafur as his second home, appreciating residents for their support and seeking their continued backing for the Tinubu–Dikko 2027 project.
Radda stated this on Tuesday during a visit to the Palace of the District Head of Kafur, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdullahi, Dan Galadiman Katsina, for his engagement with traditional rulers and community stakeholders for Tinubu–Dikko campaign rally.
“This local government is, as I always say, my second home. The children of this local government supported me in becoming who I am in Katsina State. Therefore, we are truly and sincerely grateful,” he said.
The Governor commended residents for their impressive turnout and warm reception, particularly during his earlier visit to Mahuta, describing their show of affection as a demonstration of solidarity.
“We visited Mahuta, and the turnout was as though a grand event was taking place. When we arrived here, it was as if nobody had left; everyone was waiting for us. We thank Allah and pray that He rewards you abundantly,” he noted.
Radda said his administration holds traditional and religious institutions in high esteem, recognising their contributions to peace, community leadership and grassroots development.
“According to our traditions and customs, wherever we go, we first pay homage, seek blessings, ask for support, offer prayers and foster unity with our traditional rulers and religious leaders before embarking on political activities,” he explained.
He highlighted key reforms introduced by his administration, including elevating District Heads to the highest grade of allowances for minor local government units, improving the status of Village Heads, promoting Imams and increasing allowances for Friday mosque clerics across Katsina State.
“We recognise the high status and respect you command within the community. Every household, community or village thrives not through force, but through the guidance, wisdom and advice of parents and elders. Therefore, we listened to you, learned from you and respected you,” the Governor stated.
He also identified the Community Development Programme (CDP) as a framework for involving traditional rulers, religious leaders, stakeholders and the general public in governance to ensure that government interventions reach grassroots communities.
“Through this programme, we ensure that stakeholders, clerics, traditional leaders and the general public are fully involved in our governance framework to guarantee that the grassroots benefit directly from government interventions,” he said.
Speaking as the State Coordinator of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s campaign and the APC gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 election, Radda solicited the continued prayers, blessings and wise counsel of traditional rulers and community leaders.
“We earnestly seek your continued prayers, blessings and wise counsel. We are confident that our elections will be peaceful and successful, and that Allah will grant total victory to the APC,” he said.
Earlier, the District Head of Kafur, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdullahi, Dan Galadiman Katsina, described the Governor’s visit as a historic gesture of goodwill and respect, expressing appreciation for the administration’s development interventions across the local government.
“In truth, every sector of life in this community has felt the positive impact of this government. For that, we say thank you very much, and may Allah bless you,” he said.
The traditional ruler particularly commended the upgrading of the local health clinic to a general hospital, describing it as a major intervention in improving healthcare delivery for residents.
On electricity, he disclosed that a replacement Rural Electrification Board (REB) transformer had been brought in following the breakdown that disrupted power supply, expressing hope that its installation would soon be completed.
He also acknowledged road projects in some communities, including Agwazaki and Unguwar Sabon Gari Dan Gadama, while noting that further projects were planned for Mahuta and discussions were ongoing on upgrading Kafur township roads.
The District Head appealed for the extension of road networks to accommodate the growing population and expansion of Kafur town.
He further requested a transformer to complete the RUWASA water supply project, explaining that the installation could not become fully operational without the required electricity infrastructure.
On electricity distribution, he appealed for the rehabilitation of infrastructure along Kafur’s eastern corridor, particularly Mahuta and Dan Kanjiba, as well as Kafur town and its surrounding districts, where he said electricity lines had remained without active power supply for nearly eight years.
The District Head also called for additional government attention to schools in the area, particularly in staffing and infrastructure, noting that Parent-Teacher Associations had been carrying much of the responsibility despite existing government interventions.
He assured the Governor of the traditional institution’s readiness to support his administration and prayed for peaceful elections and a successful political transition. He also expressed hope of hosting the Governor for a grand celebratory dinner after the elections.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Kafur Local Government, Hon. Surajo Bature, warmly welcomed the Governor and appreciated his visit to the traditional institution and the people of the area.
He assured Radda that the people of Kafur and the APC family across the local government remained united, peaceful and committed to supporting the administration and its political agenda.
Bature commended the Governor’s developmental strides, inclusive governance and empowerment initiatives implemented across the state in collaboration with local government structures and the APC.
The Governor’s delegation included Deputy Governor, Hon. Faruk Lawal Jobe; Director-General of the Tinubu–Dikko Campaign Council, Arch. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa; Dr. Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa; APC State Chairman, Dr. Bishir Gambo Saulawa; Hon. Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji; and other government officials, political leaders, traditional leaders and members of the campaign council.
