You have no agenda, no response to questions raised on your competency - Adeleke tackles Oyebamiji
Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has tackled the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, accusing him of lacking a clear governance agenda and deliberately evading critical questions regarding his past record of public service.
Addressing citizens and residents at the Government House in Osogbo during the Eid al-Fitr celebrations, the governor openly questioned his opponent's commitment to transparency, asking if the APC flagbearer is afraid of his own past.
The inquiry centers on a series of inquiries regarding Oyebamiji's previous tenure in government.
Governor Adeleke pointed out that the APC candidate was presented with 30 specific questions concerning his stewardship at the Osun Investment Company, the Ministry of Finance, and the Inland Waterways.
Nearly three weeks later, Oyebamiji has maintained a total silence on the matter. Adeleke heavily contrasted this evasion with his own administration's approach, noting that when the opposition recently directed over 20 questions at him, he provided detailed, public responses within a matter of hours.
"Osun people deserve answers to those critical questions about Osun assets and its management while Bola was in charge. The people want answers to those dark points in state finance management while Bola was the finance commissioner. Why is he scared of coming clean?" the governor challenged.
Asserting that his administration remains the most scrutinized in the state's recent history, Adeleke stated that Oyebamiji's refusal to answer fundamental questions only validates the public's growing doubts about his competency for the governorship.
The governor further highlighted a contrast in political preparedness, noting that while he has proudly presented a three-year scorecard and unveiled an updated five-point agenda for sustainable development, his opponent is still grappling with what to present to the electorate, choosing instead to dodge accountability.
Adeleke further argued that the people of Osun State prefer the continuity of good governance over placing their trust in a candidate associated with past administrative failures.
According to a statement signed by the Governor's Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke claimed the opposition has nothing to campaign with beyond a dismal legacy characterized by anti-labor policies, unpaid pensions, half salaries, and severe infrastructure deficits.
In defense of his own mandate, the governor touted the national recognition Osun State is currently receiving across various verified platforms.
He outlined major strides made under his watch, emphasizing that the state is now recognized as the best in the South West for healthcare access and ranks among the top nine nationwide for budget transparency.
Adeleke also highlighted a massive leap in national examination ratings moving from 33rd under the previous APC administration to 7th place alongside a 40 percent reduction in both the state's debt stock and its infrastructure deficit, firmly positioning Osun as a leading player in Nigeria's digital economy.
