The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old woman, Hadiza Mamuda, for allegedly killing her husband during a domestic altercation in Garin Abba Village, Fika Local Government Area.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the incident occurred after a heated argument between the couple over food items. The suspect allegedly used a wooden log to fatally assault the victim.

SP Abdulkarim stated that police operatives at the Fika Divisional Headquarters apprehended the suspect and have commenced a full investigation. “The suspect is in custody and will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation,” he said.

The deceased, a polygamous man with two wives and five children, was confirmed dead at the scene. His death has left the family and community in mourning.

Commenting on the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Yobe State, CP Emmanuel Ado, stressed the importance of early intervention in marital disputes and called for greater community engagement to prevent domestic violence.

He also urged religious and community leaders to increase public awareness about the dangers of physical violence within marriages. “We must collectively work to promote peaceful conflict resolution and prevent the tragic consequences of domestic abuse,” CP Ado said.
