Wife denies knowing whereabouts of ex-Husband, wanted by Police

A Benin-based woman, Mrs. Rose Edobor of No. 14, Jude Otasowe Street, Off Medical Stores Road, Benin City, Edo State, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, denied knowing the whereabouts of Victor Osakue Osas before the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State CID, Edo State Police Command.

It was revealed that Victor Osakue Osas is currently wanted by the Edo State Police Command following a petition written on April 26, 2026, by Mr. Felix Iyekekpolo and Osazee Odigie.

The petition was submitted on behalf of the families of two deceased PDP youth executive members, Clement Iyekekpolo and Andrew Odigie, who were killed in the Egor Local Government Area of the state on October 20, 2020.

Speaking to journalists, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Ebo Ikoefem, stated that upon receiving the petition, the State Police Command swung into action by issuing an invitation letter to Mrs. Rose Edobor.

The family had accused her of knowing the location of the fleeing suspect, and she was brought in for interrogation to ascertain her knowledge of his whereabouts.

According to ASP Ikoefem, “Mrs. Rose Edobor was duly interrogated for several hours by a team of investigators regarding the aforementioned allegations. The interrogation focused on determining whether she had withheld any material information relevant to the ongoing investigation and manhunt for the suspect, Victor Osakue Osas, and whether she also knows Pastor Matthew Ose Ehigiamusoe.”

“Upon conclusion of the interrogation, a preliminary review of available evidence, and the execution of a search warrant at her residence, the Command found the allegations leveled against Mrs. Rose Edobor to be baseless and unfounded. There was no evidence to substantiate claims that she concealed information related to the whereabouts of the suspect, whom she disclosed they had since divorced. She confirmed knowing Pastor Matthew Ose Ehigiamusoe, explaining that she and her family fellowship at his church on Adolor College Road, Benin City.”

“Following the interrogation and findings, Mrs. Rose Edobor was released unconditionally and allowed to return home.”

The Police spokesperson further reiterated that Victor Osakue Osas remains wanted for the alleged murder of the two PDP executive members (Clement Iyekekpolo and Andrew Odigie) in Egor Local Government Area, Edo State.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect so he can face the full wrath of the law. Members of the public have been advised that anyone with useful information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest should report immediately to the nearest police station or directly to the Edo State Police Command.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Rose Edobor has appealed to the Nigeria Police Force to come to her rescue following an invasion of her residence by unknown individuals in Benin City.

Narrating her ordeal to journalists at the Edo NUJ Secretariat in Benin City, Mrs. Rose Edobor stated that on April 14, 2026, at about 1:45 AM, a group of unknown persons stormed her residence.

They attempted to gain access to the compound through the locked gate while shouting, “Open the door or we will force our way into the house!” and “You must reveal the whereabouts of your husband, Victor Osakue; he cannot kill our brothers and go free!”

She explained that as she grew increasingly terrified, she attempted to call the police, shouting to the intruders that law enforcement officers were on their way. Hearing this, the hoodlums fled just as she was about to escape over the back fence with her child.

She called on the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the State Commissioner of Police, and other law enforcement agencies to come to her rescue, stating that she is now too afraid to return to her home.

Journalists present at the secretariat subsequently advised her to formally lodge a complaint at the police station closest to her residence.
