The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports that the party has pocked a consensus candidate to vie for the 2027 gubernatorial elections.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Oyo APC Publicity Secretary Olawale Sadare clarified that the party has no knowledge of any individual’s official ambition at this stage, as the process for receiving letters of intent has not yet commenced.
The Larty emphasized its commitment to democratic principles and the provisions of the Electoral Act.
The Party further noted that the immediate focus of the chapter is the successful completion of party congresses ahead of the National Convention scheduled for this weekend in Abuja.
While the party confirmed the endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its sole presidential candidate, it maintained that all other qualified and interested members will be given a fair and equal opportunity to contest for various positions when the INEC timetable permits.
