The acting National Chairperson of the Labour Party, Sen. Nenadi Usman, has assured party members and supporters of her dedication to rebuilding and strengthening the party for future success.
In a message of gratitude to members and leaders of the party following Wednesday’s NEC meeting in Abuja, Usman assured that a revitalised Labour Party would emerge from the crisis, which has now been resolved by the Supreme Court.
“Yesterday (Wednesday) marked a pivotal moment in the history of our great party, the Labour Party, with the National Executive Council (NEC) Meeting and Stakeholders’ Interactive Town Hall held in Abuja,” she said.
“It was a gathering filled with purpose and clarity, and I was truly honoured to be present alongside esteemed leaders and dedicated stakeholders, including my dear elder brother and great leader, H.E. Mr. Peter Obi, and his running mate, Dr. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed.”
Usman also acknowledged the presence of other prominent party figures, such as the leader of NEC, Gov. Alex Otti, Deputy Governor of Abia, Ikechukwu Emetu, Labour Party members of the National and State Assemblies, as well as representatives of the NLC and TUC, leaders of the Obidient Movement, and other patriotic Nigerians.
She described the meeting as both timely and crucial, as stakeholders worked together to strengthen the foundations of the party, foster unity, and refocus on its enduring mission — creating a New Nigeria that works for all.
A former Minister of Finance, Usman expressed her gratitude for the resolution passed at the NEC meeting, which appointed her as the acting national chairperson to lead the party during the transition period.
She also noted that a formal visit was made to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), where the Supreme Court’s ruling affirming the legitimacy of the party’s leadership transition was presented, along with the outcome of the NEC proceedings.
“This goes beyond a procedural step — it is a clear demonstration of our collective commitment to due process, internal democracy, and the transparent governance that the Nigerian people rightfully expect from us,” she explained.
Usman extended her heartfelt appreciation to all members of the Labour Party, the leadership of the NLC and TUC, the Obidient Movement, and every Nigerian who continues to support the movement.
“To our leader and presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, your steadfastness and integrity continue to inspire millions,” she said. “I reaffirm my commitment to the values and vision that define the Labour Party — a party of the people, for the people.”
“Now is not the time for distractions or divisions. It is time to build, with unity, courage, and a profound love for our country,” Usman added.
She concluded by saying that, together with other stakeholders, she would continue the journey of hope, pledging to serve with diligence, transparency, and unwavering focus on shared goals.
“Let us remain steadfast, engaged, and hopeful. The New Nigeria is not a dream deferred — it is a vision in progress,” Usman said.
