Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has commissioned and distributed 100 newly built, energy-efficient homes to indigent widows, marking the launch of a landmark social housing project executed in partnership with the Family Homes Funds and the Kaduna State Government.
The initiative, which has Kaduna as its pilot phase, is designed to promote inclusive growth, social justice, and the upliftment of vulnerable groups across the state.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony in Kaduna, Governor Sani described the project as a “symbol of hope, stability, and empowerment” for widows who have endured years of hardship, stressing that each home represents “renewal and belonging.”
He expressed gratitude to the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development for their commendation of his administration’s commitment to transformative social programs.
The governor said: “Our administration remains steadfast in expanding access to safe, secure, and affordable housing, the cornerstone of human dignity.
“Through strategic partnerships with local and international investors, we are closing Kaduna’s housing deficit and creating new opportunities for our people.”
Governor Sani cited ongoing housing developments such as the Qatar Sannabil Project for victims of banditry, Nuru Suraj Ungwar Dosa New Extension, and Urban Shelter’s Millennium City Project as examples of the administration’s sustained efforts to reshape Kaduna’s housing landscape.
He further revealed that the state’s investor-friendly environment has attracted major institutions, including the Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Customs Service, NDLEA, and the Federal Housing Authority, all of whom are currently undertaking mass housing projects in Kaduna.
While appreciating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his visionary leadership and support for the initiative, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with the Federal Government, Family Homes Funds, and other stakeholders to expand access to affordable housing and economic empowerment across the state.
