Two members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly have resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing internal party crises and poor leadership.

Shamsudeen Hassan of Talata-Mafara North Constituency and Nura Dahiru of Birnin-Magaji Constituency submitted separate resignation letters dated 3 December, which were read on the House floor by Speaker Bilyaminu Moriki.

Hassan said persistent divisions and the marginalisation of members at both state and local government levels influenced his decision, adding that remaining in the party no longer aligned with his personal convictions or the interests of his constituents.

Dahiru stated that leaving the APC would enable him to pursue initiatives more in line with the aspirations of the people he represents.

Following his resignation, he officially announced his defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State.

Both lawmakers expressed gratitude to the APC for the opportunities they had enjoyed and requested that their letters be treated as formal notices of exit.
