Armed bandits have killed two residents and abducted four others during a night-time raid on Gidan Tamba village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The attack occurred at approximately 10:45 p.m. on 29 June, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama, who disclosed the incident in a post on his verified X account (formerly Twitter).
Makama reported that the attackers stormed the village, firing indiscriminately and triggering widespread panic. During the assault, 60-year-old Ashiru Shafiu was shot and died on the spot, while another resident, Suleiman Yusuf, also aged 60, reportedly collapsed from shock and later died of a heart attack.
Both bodies were taken to the General Hospital in Kankara, where medical personnel confirmed their deaths.
Four villagers were abducted during the raid and taken away by the assailants. The kidnapped individuals were identified as Kazeem Nuhu, Shafiu Aliyu, Rama Dan Mallam, and Ummah Abdulwahab.
Eyewitnesses said the gunmen arrived on motorcycles and swiftly retreated into the nearby forest after seizing their captives.
As of the time of reporting, local authorities had not released an official statement regarding the incident.
