Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 14 kidnapped victims during an operation in Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The victims, comprising six males and eight females, were rescued on Tuesday, August 18, after troops responded to credible intelligence on the movement of terrorists with kidnapped victims around Madaci Forest.

According to a statement by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops of Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA mobilised to the area and engaged the terrorists, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee into the surrounding bushes.

Danja said preliminary information showed that the victims had been abducted from different locations within the Dandume, Bakori and Funtua areas of the state.

He added that the rescued victims were handed over to the appropriate local authorities for necessary action and reunification with their families.

The Theatre Command noted that the operation underscored the troops’ commitment to protecting lives and denying terrorists the freedom to carry out criminal activities across the North-West.

He also assured residents that troops would sustain pressure on terrorist elements and intensify operations to safeguard communities in the Joint Operations Area.

The command urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security forces to support ongoing operations.
