Troops of the 29 Task Force Brigade under Operation HADIN KAI successfully repelled a coordinated terrorist attack at their headquarters in Benisheikh, Borno State, in the early hours of Thursday.

The Defence Headquarters stated that insurgents attempted to breach the military installation were met with a swift and decisive response by the troops. Brigadier General Oseni Braimah, Commander of the 29 Brigade, led the counteraction, employing superior firepower that forced the attackers to retreat in disarray.

The military described the attack as a sign of desperation by terrorist groups following previous defeats. “The insurgents abandoned their mission, leaving behind traces of their failed assault,” the statement said.

Regrettably, a few soldiers lost their lives during the encounter. The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Olatunbosun Oluyede, honoured their sacrifice and extended condolences to their families.

The Defence Headquarters urged the public to avoid unverified reports on social media, noting that misinformation undermines national security and ongoing operations.

Operation HADIN KAI continues to maintain pressure on terrorist elements across the North-East with clearance and exploitation operations ongoing to track and neutralise fleeing insurgents and prevent them from regrouping.

The military reassured citizens of its commitment to restoring peace and stability in Borno and the wider North-East region and encouraged the public to provide credible information and remain calm and vigilant.
