Troops recover seven rifles, motorcycles in Delta raid‎‎By Imisioluwa Afunmiso

Troops of the Headquarters 63 Brigade/Sector 1 Joint Task Force, South South Operation DELTA SAFE, have recovered seven rifles and two motorcycles during a raid operation in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.

‎The operation, carried out on June 4, 2026, followed credible intelligence reports on the activities of criminal elements within the area. According to the Nigerian Army, the weapons and motorcycles were discovered in an abandoned police station in the Ibusa community.

‎Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 63 Brigade, Captain Iliyasu Bawa-Rijau, disclosed the development in a statement issued in Asaba on Friday.

‎He said the recovery formed part of ongoing efforts by security forces to rid Delta State of criminal elements and enhance security across the region.


‎The Commander, 63 Brigade, Brigadier General Moronfolu Abdulmoshood Shonibare, commended the troops for their resilience, vigilance, and professionalism in the conduct of the operation.

‎Shonibare charged the personnel to sustain the current operational momentum and maintain relentless pressure on criminal groups operating within the brigade’s area of responsibility.



‎The brigade commander also reaffirmed the military’s commitment to denying criminals freedom of action and warned individuals or groups harbouring illegal arms or engaging in criminal activities that they would face the full weight of the law.

‎The Nigerian Army stated that the operation underscores its determination, in collaboration with other security agencies, to combat crime and ensure the safety of residents in Delta State and the wider Niger Delta region.
