“Every day across this nation, millions of Nigerians rely on transportation to work, trade, study, visit family, and live their lives. But behind every trip, by road, rail, air, or water, there are transporters: the drivers, pilots, hostesses, seafarers, deckhands, signal operators, locomotive engineers, pipeline operators, dispatchers, mechanics, union members, logistics operators, and all who keep people and goods moving safely and efficiently.

“We are the heartbeat of the nation’s economy, yet too often, our struggles are ignored. The truth is plain: if transport stops, the nation stops. That is why we are building this platform, Transporters for Tinubu 2027, to bring together over two million transporters nationwide to support and strengthen the vision of renewed infrastructure, better roads, safer journeys, and dignified work for all Nigerians in the transport industry.”

According to him, Nigeria is confronted with the issues of poor road conditions as one of the biggest causes of road crashes in Nigeria. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reported over 5,421 deaths in road accidents in 2024, that is more than 13 Nigerians dying every day on our highways.

Dr. Obayendo stressed that transporters for Tinubu is not a political club, it is a people’s movement. We are not waiting for change to come from above; we are organising from the ground up to make sure that the sector gets the attention, reforms, and investment it deserves.

He added: “We have seen encouraging signs, road rehabilitation across several states, the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway nearing completion, the revival of the Abuja–Kaduna and Warri–Itakpe rail lines, and efforts to modernise our ports.

“Our vision is clear for a safer Roads with safer vehicles, training, and enforcement. Modern Parks and Terminals: Clean, organised spaces that treat drivers and passengers with dignity.
Professional Transporters: Drivers and operators trained, certified, and respected as professionals.
