In this week’s series of Thriving Women, we spotlight Tosin Adefeko, popularly known as Tosh, a corporate executive, entrepreneur and communications strategist whose journey reminds us that there is no single path to success and no age limit to becoming the woman you aspire to be.

From leaving a successful banking career at 31 to building an award-winning brand growth agency, Tosh’s story is one of courage, reinvention and the determination to keep growing.

With over 25 years of experience across financial services, media and marketing communications, Tosh has built a career defined by her willingness to embrace new possibilities. After working across five banks, she made the bold decision to change direction, earning a master’s degree in Marketing Communications in England before returning to Nigeria to work in media at Arise Magazine and NN24.

Her next move took her to The Quadrant Company, where she rose through the ranks to become Chief Operating Officer of QuadrantMSL. But as her experience grew, so did her desire to build something of her own. She founded AT3 Resources, now known as The MUVMNT Agency, a brand growth agency that has expanded beyond communications consultancy to create platforms for experiences, insights and storytelling.

Building the business was not always easy. In its early years, Tosh took on unpaid assignments and volunteered her expertise to organizations such as WIMBIZ and the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, sometimes asking only for her agency’s logo to appear on event backdrops. Those efforts helped build credibility and opened doors to new opportunities.

Today, Tosh’s work extends beyond helping brands communicate. Through The Uncovered Series and #ToshTalks, she creates room for conversations about leadership, entrepreneurship and the experiences of women in business. She is also the curator of PodFest Naija, a platform celebrating storytelling through podcasting and connecting the people behind the growing podcast industry.

Since its inception, PodFest Naija has brought together hundreds of podcasters and content creators, providing opportunities to share ideas, build connections and explore the possibilities of audio storytelling. Its second edition, held just last month, further reflects the growing interest in podcasting as a medium for creativity, communication and community. By creating a space where creators can learn from one another, showcase their work and explore potential collaborations, PodFest Naija also contributes to Nigeria’s creative economy, where talent, ideas and original content can become valuable opportunities for business and employment.

Her contributions to marketing and communications have earned her several industry recognitions, including the 2023 Outstanding PR Personality of the Year award from Marketing Edge and recognition among the 50 Most Influential Women in Marketing and Communications in 2024.

Tosh’s journey is a reminder that thriving looks different for every woman. Sometimes, it means building on what you know. Other times, it means having the courage to leave behind what you have mastered and make room for something new. Whatever the dream looks like, her story shows that we are not limited to the lives we have already built. There is always room to learn, begin again and dream bigger.
