Tinubu’s youth empowerment programmes not politically driven – Idris

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has said that the youth empowerment initiatives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration are designed to benefit all young Nigerians, irrespective of political affiliation.

Idris made the clarification on Tuesday night in Abuja during an interactive session with youths drawn from the APC Youth Wing and tertiary institutions across the Federal Capital Territory. The event, held at The Nest Resource Centre, featured open discussions and was moderated by the APC National Youth Leader, Dr. Dayo Israel.

According to the minister, the federal government’s youth-focused interventions are guided by inclusiveness and national development, not partisan interests. He stressed that programmes such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and the Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative are open to all eligible Nigerians.

“Programmes like NELFUND and 3MTT are not designed for any political party; they are for Nigerians,” Idris said, adding that the administration is committed to expanding access to education, skills development, and economic opportunities for young people nationwide.

He encouraged Nigerian youths to take advantage of the available programmes, noting that the success of the initiatives depends largely on active youth participation and innovation.

The minister reaffirmed the Tinubu administration’s resolve to continue implementing policies and programmes aimed at empowering young Nigerians and positioning them as key drivers of the country’s economic growth and national development.
