President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a stern warning to insurgent groups, declaring that the federal government is intensifying its efforts to procure advanced resources and strategies to permanently dismantle terrorism in Nigeria.
The President made this commitment during the opening ceremony of a two-day National Economic Council (NEC) Conference at the Presidential Villa’s Banquet Hall, where he linked the nation’s economic aspirations directly to the restoration of absolute security.
Addressing a high-powered gathering of the 36 state governors, federal ministers, and international development partners, President Tinubu admitted that the nation’s security challenges have been a source of personal and collective anxiety.
“I am leaving here again to further find means to strengthen our security forces to defeat terrorism, that I promise you,” the President stated.
He further emphasized the weight of the responsibility, noting that the threat of insecurity is what has kept all of us sleepless at night, but I assure you we will win.
The conference, themed “Delivering Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development: The Renewed Hope National Development Plan,” serves as a critical platform for sub-national and federal collaboration.
Beyond the security rhetoric, the summit aims to synchronize state-level policies with the federal government’s Renewed Hope agenda to address Nigeria’s pressing developmental gaps.
Attendees are expected to deliberate on fiscal reforms, infrastructure financing, and social investment programs designed to stimulate the economy while ensuring that growth is felt by the most vulnerable segments of the population.
By convening governors and key stakeholders, the NEC summit marks a strategic attempt to move the National Development Plan from a policy document into a lived reality.
As the deliberations continue, the President’s remarks underscored a clear administration priority: that sustainable economic development is impossible without the decisive defeat of those threatening the peace and sovereignty of the nation.
