President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is seeking United States support in the development of energy and infrastructure, as well as in aligning trade and job creation efforts.

In a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, it was revealed that the President made this request during a meeting with Mr. Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor for Africa in the State Department under President Donald J. Trump’s administration, on Thursday in Paris.

The meeting centred on fostering a strategic economic and security partnership between Nigeria, Africa, and the United States, grounded in mutual respect, prosperity, and regional stability.

The US State Department representative conveyed President Trump’s strong desire to deepen direct engagement with Nigeria as a central aspect of US relations with Africa. The US expressed its intention to work closely with President Tinubu to expand American investment in Nigeria and Africa, support energy and infrastructure development, and coordinate efforts in trade and job creation.

Both sides discussed practical support and exchanged views on regional peace, particularly in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and across the Sahel.

President Trump’s advisor acknowledged Nigeria’s regional and continental leadership, lending support to President Tinubu’s initiatives aimed at stabilising critical African regions.

Tinubu reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to building productive partnerships with the United States, focused on transparency, opportunity, mutual respect, and results that enhance Africa’s role in the global economy.
