President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that no region will be left behind in his administration’s development agenda, affirming a commitment to equitable growth nationwide.
Speaking in Kaduna through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, at a two-day interactive session on government-citizens’ engagement, Tinubu emphasized that his government is actively working to dispel any notion of regional neglect, especially in Northern Nigeria.
The event, organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, focused on assessing electoral promises and strengthening democratic accountability. Tinubu said the engagement with stakeholders would highlight empirical evidence of progress under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He outlined major strides made in key sectors such as the economy, security, education, infrastructure, agriculture, and health. Among the flagship projects mentioned were the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, the Kano-Maradi and Port Harcourt-Maiduguri rail lines, and new housing developments.
On economic reforms, Tinubu pointed to bold steps like the unification of the exchange rate and the restructuring of national debt. He acknowledged the impact of fuel subsidy removal but said the move was necessary to save trillions of naira now being redirected into infrastructure and human capital development.
“Our economic reforms are not just about stabilising figures they’re designed to create a diversified, resilient economy that works for all,” he said. “Security, food production, energy, and innovation remain key pillars of this strategy.”
He noted that over 400,000 students had already benefitted from the new Student Loan Programme, with over N53 billion disbursed. He also reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to improving social investment, promoting national unity, and ensuring every citizen has a stake in Nigeria’s future.
While acknowledging the challenges, Tinubu called for patience and collective effort to realise the agenda’s long-term goals. He also paid tribute to late statesman Sir Ahmadu Bello and other northern leaders, describing them as symbols of unity and nation-building.
The President’s message was delivered in the presence of ministers, service chiefs, heads of agencies, and other dignitaries from across the country, reaffirming the administration’s focus on inclusive national development.
