President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to depart Abuja today, Monday, January 26, 2026, for a state visit to the Republic of Türkiye, a strategic diplomatic mission aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and exploring new frontiers of cooperation.

The visit serves as a reciprocal gesture following Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s official trip to Nigeria in October 2021, signaling a renewed commitment to the partnership between Abuja and Ankara.

According to the Presidency, the visit will focus heavily on security, education, innovation, and aviation, with both leaders expected to engage in high-level political and diplomatic discussions.

A major highlight of the trip will be the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) covering critical sectors such as scientific research, energy, technical cooperation, media, and military protocols.

Additionally, a business forum is scheduled to bring together investors from both nations to foster economic alliances.

To ensure the success of the bilateral engagements, President Tinubu will be accompanied by a robust delegation of top government officials.

The entourage includes the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN; and the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd).

Also on the trip to drive discussions on security and legislation are the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu; the Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Hon. Jimi Benson; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.

The delegation is further bolstered by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim; and the Minister of Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa.

President Tinubu is expected to return to the country immediately after the conclusion of the visit.
