President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has lauded the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Nigeria’s BUA Group and two prominent UAE-based entities, AD Ports Group and MAIR Group.
In a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, the President characterized the agreement as a significant industrial and trade milestone facilitated by the renewed diplomatic and economic engagement between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates under his administration.
The MoU outlines a comprehensive framework for collaboration in sugar refining, agro-industrial development, and integrated global logistics solutions.
Under the terms of the agreement, advanced sugar refining and logistics infrastructure will be developed in the UAE, a move designed to enhance value addition, strengthen supply-chain resilience, and deepen trade flows between the Gulf region and West Africa.
President Tinubu noted that this partnership is a tangible dividend of his recent high-level state visits to Abu Dhabi, which prioritized infrastructure, investment, and food security.
According to the President, this international alliance demonstrates a growing global confidence in Nigeria’s fiscal reform agenda and underscores the country’s pivot toward export-led industrialization.
He further highlighted that the agreement reflects the maturity of Nigerian enterprises, which are increasingly capable of forming strategic global alliances and competing on the world stage.
By leveraging BUA Group’s established industrial base particularly its food processing operations and port infrastructure upgrades, the partnership aims to position Nigeria as a more competitive player in international trade.
In his commendation, President Tinubu specifically praised the Chairman of BUA Group, Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu, for his continued multi-sectoral investments and for showcasing the global capacity of Nigerian companies.
The President reaffirmed that his administration remains dedicated to fostering bilateral partnerships that attract foreign direct investment, expand the nation’s export reach, and deliver sustainable economic prosperity.
