Tinubu appoints Fayose as REA Chairman
…as President names 24 others to head various federal agencies, commissions

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, as the new Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), and named Major General Junaid Bindawa to head the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission.
The appointments are part of a major board shake-up involving 26 Nigerians across 10 key Federal Government agencies and commissions.
In a statement on Monday, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, announced the appointments confirming that all the appointments take immediate effect to optimize performance across critical sectors.
In the energy and infrastructure sector, Fayose will lead the board of the Rural Electrification Agency alongside newly appointed members and non-executive directors Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta.
They will work with the incumbent Managing Director, Dr Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors.
In other key infrastructure deployments, President Tinubu appointed Dr. Akinola Odeyemi as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET) Plc, and Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
Additionally, Engineer Julius Oloro, a former council chairman, has been named the new Chief Executive Officer of the Kwara-based National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), filling the vacancy left by Dr. A. R. Kamal, who passed away last January.
The restructuring also brought sweeping changes to fiscal and regulatory bodies. Major General Bindawa will be supported at the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission by a newly constituted team, with former federal lawmaker Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas assuming office as the new Secretary.
The President also appointed Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian (representing Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (representing Oyo), and Yakubu Umar Barde (representing Kaduna) as new commissioners.
Furthermore, Dr. Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo), and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi) were appointed as members of the commission.
In a key administrative redeployment, Tosin Johnson Adeyanju has been moved from his previous role as Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF) to serve as the new Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission.
The shake-up further extended to vital socio-economic and population agencies. Dr. Abuh Mohammed has been appointed as the new Director-General of the National Population Commission, while a new board has been constituted for the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, chaired by Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu.
The board members include Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr. Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
In the education and literacy sector, Shuni Muhammad Dahiru has been named the new Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) in April.
To fill the vacancy at the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), President Tinubu also named Gisaor Vincent Iorja as the new Executive Director of Finance.
Iorja, an economist, legal scholar, and academic currently serving as the Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), replaces Mathias Byuan, who resigned from the FHA to contest the governorship election in Benue State.
