Tinubu administration awards 107 FCT projects, FCT analysis shows

The Federal Capital Territory Administration has highlighted the number of projects inherited from previous administrations and those awarded under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with the latest figures showing a significant rise in projects under the current administration.

The analysis, shared by Lere Olayinka of Aresa 1 on Wednesday, was titled, “Analysis of inherited FCDA Projects completed and ongoing, as well as those awarded (completed and ongoing) by President Tinubu’s Administration.”

According to the document attributed to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), a total of 143 projects were recorded across the different administrations, with 106 completed and 37 still ongoing.

The breakdown showed that between 1999 and 2007, during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, four projects were listed. Three had been completed, while one remained ongoing.

For the period between 2007 and 2015, covering the administrations of former Presidents Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan, seven projects were recorded. Four were marked as completed and three as ongoing.

The analysis further indicated that 25 projects were inherited from the 2015–2023 administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. Of these, 23 had been completed while two remained ongoing.

However, the figures for the Tinubu administration stood out, with 107 projects listed as having been awarded from 2023 “till date.” The document stated that 76 of the projects had been completed, while 31 were ongoing.

The document therefore shows that the projects awarded under the present administration account for the largest share of the 143 projects captured in the analysis.

The figures provide a snapshot of project execution within the Federal Capital Territory and come amid increased attention on infrastructure development in Abuja.

The FCTA document described the earlier projects as “Inherited Projects,” while those under the current administration were identified as projects “Awarded by the Present Administration.”

The analysis suggests that the Tinubu administration has placed considerable emphasis on infrastructure delivery, with more than 100 projects listed within just over three years.

The figures, however, also show that 31 projects awarded under the current administration are still ongoing, indicating that work remains to be completed on a sizeable portion of the projects.

With Abuja witnessing rapid expansion and growing demand for roads, public facilities and other infrastructure, the implementation of these projects is expected to remain an important part of the FCT’s development agenda.

The latest figures have also renewed attention on how successive administrations contribute to, complete and build upon infrastructure projects in the nation’s capital.
