Three men appeared in Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday for allegedly stealing and receiving stolen cables worth N6.5 million.

The defendants are: Jude Jeremiah, 29, a tiler; Chika Okonkwo, 40, a trader, who resides within Onipanu area of Lagos, and Chukwudi Okoya, a trader, who lives at 19, Ibi Osi Street, Mushin, Lagos.

The trio are being tried for conspiracy, stealing and receiving stolen goods.

The prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the offences were committed between March 27 and April 4, at Ajegunle Street, Ilupeju, Lagos.

The defendants, however, then pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Bola Osunsanmi, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N1 million each with two sureties in like sum.

Osunsanmi adjourned the case until July 27 for mention.
