A tragic road crash along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway on Tuesday has claimed three lives and left several others with serious injuries, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority said on Wednesday.
In a statement posted on its official X handle, LASTMA confirmed that the accident occurred near the Secretariat end of the expressway, on the outward lane towards Otedola Bridge.
According to the agency, the crash involved three vehicles.
“Three vehicles were involved in the collision, resulting in three fatalities and several serious injuries,” LASTMA said.
It added that personnel from the Lagos State Ambulance Service were already on the scene administering urgent medical care.
“LASAMBUS officials are providing medical attention to the injured victims,” the statement noted.
LASTMA officers, alongside operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, were also deployed to manage traffic, prevent further incidents and maintain order around the affected section of the highway.
The agency said efforts were ongoing to remove the damaged vehicles and clear the road for normal traffic flow. Motorists were urged to approach the area with caution and obey diversion instructions.
Emergency responders have continued working to stabilise injured passengers while arrangements are being made to move the vehicles off the carriageway.
