The Medical Poet hosts maiden edition of ‘Meet & Speak’

Last Easter Monday, Lagos played host to a unique fusion of art and spirituality as The Medical Poet, Nwachukwu Olusegun Nwachukwu, welcomed poets and poetry enthusiasts to the inaugural edition of Meet & Speak in Lekki Phase 1.

Speaking during the gathering, Nwachukwu shared his vision for the initiative: “My aim is to see the Gospel communicated through poetry; to create a fellowship environment where Bible study is grounded in poetic expression.

“I also wanted an interactive format, where the audience can interpret the poems in their own words, share reflections, and draw from personal experiences. I’m grateful that Meet & Speak has captured all of these elements, and more.”

The event brought together a line-up of talented poets, including Nkasiobinnaya, Leshem, Olá.byDesign, Ìlátúndé ÌBÁFÉMI, Pamilerin Jacob, Victoria Ajose, Flourish Joshua, and the host himself, The Medical Poet.

Each performer presented work that explored themes such as God’s love, the Christian’s journey in a contemporary world, personal struggles with faith, and the hope found in salvation.

Described as a Christian gathering with a poetic twist, Meet & Speak blends Bible study, worship sessions, and prayer, all centred on spoken word and scriptural meditation.

Although the maiden edition was held on the Island, organisers have announced that a follow-up event is planned for May, to be held on the mainland of Lagos State. Those interested in attending or learning more can reach out via email at themedicalpoet@gmail.com.
