A fully-loaded petroleum tanker exploded on Wednesday afternoon along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, near the NASFAT prayer ground.

Eyewitnesses said the tanker fell while in motion and burst into flames shortly after, sending thick black smoke into the sky and triggering panic among motorists. Several vehicles around the scene were affected by the fire.

Emergency responders, including officials from the fire service and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), swiftly arrived at the scene to contain the blaze. As of the time of this report, no casualties have been confirmed.

Vehicular movement along the expressway has been heavily disrupted, with a significant build-up of traffic in both directions. Authorities are urging road users to avoid the affected stretch and seek alternative routes until the situation is brought under full control.
