The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has reported the electrocution of a suspected vandal attempting to tamper with a high-voltage power line in Ebonyi State.
According to a statement issued on Friday by TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the incident occurred on July 19 at Tower 34 along the Nkalagu–Abakaliki 132kV transmission line. The body of the suspected vandal, found hanging on the tower, has since been recovered.
Mbah reiterated TCN’s warnings on the life-threatening dangers of tampering with power infrastructure, noting that transmission lines carry dangerously high voltages essential to the country’s energy supply.
“TCN has consistently warned against acts of vandalism on its transmission infrastructure, which not only pose serious risks to human life but also threaten national development,” she stated.
The company urged members of the public to help safeguard electricity infrastructure by reporting any suspicious activities near power facilities to law enforcement agencies or nearby TCN offices.
