Surulere LG chairman commends Gbajabiamila for empowering 5,000 residents

The Chairman of Surulere Local Government Area of Lagos State, Mr Bamidele Yusuf, has commended the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, for empowering 5,000 residents of the area.

Yusuf gave the commendation in his welcome address at the 2026 Gbaja Mega Empowerment Programme held on Saturday in Surulere.

The newsmen report that Gbajabiamila distributed e-hailing electric cars, mini-buses, tricycles, security patrol vehicles, laptops, cash support and grants to Small and Medium Scale Enterprises.

Yusuf said the empowerment was part of Gbajabiamila’s commitment to reducing poverty and expanding wealth creation opportunities for residents of the area.

He said the 5,000 beneficiaries were drawn from all the wards in the local government.

The chairman said he had no reservation in thanking Gbajabiamila for his interventions, which he said had made Surulere a model for other local governments in Nigeria.

“It is out of gratitude to Almighty Allah that I stand before this august gathering.

“I take it as a special privilege to welcome you to this unique occasion of the 2026 Gbaja Mega Empowerment.

“Let us congratulate ourselves on the success of our visionary leader, Chief Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, who has been a Godsend to the good people of Surulere, Lagos and Nigeria as a whole.

“I have no reservation in saying thank you, sir, for making Surulere the envy of other local governments in Nigeria,” he said.

Yusuf said the party and Nigerians were proud of Gbajabiamila’s gesture, urging the beneficiaries to make good use of the items and support provided.

He also urged the beneficiaries to fulfil their civic responsibilities and participate actively in the democratic process.

“Make sure every home is reached. Leave no stone unturned. Be fully involved in the national election.

“This is the only avenue you can compensate for the good work of our leader, President Bola Tinubu, and Gbajabiamila by choosing the right candidate to propagate the political will of our great party,” he said.

One of the beneficiaries, Mr Kola Adeola, thanked Gbajabiamila for the initiative.

Adeola said the empowerment would help reduce poverty and improve the livelihood of residents in the area.
