Senate appropriations, economic team align on tax reforms, budget priorities

Senate Committee on Appropriations Meets with Nigeria’s Economic Team on 2026 Budget Framework
The Senate Committee on Appropriations, chaired by Senator Adeola Olamilekan, convened a high-level session with members of Nigeria’s Economic Team to deliberate on the fiscal framework, revenue projections, and expenditure priorities underpinning the 2026 national budget.

The meeting had in attendance Mr. Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, HE Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Doris Uzoka-Anite, Minister of State for Finance and the Executive Chairman, Nigeria Revenue Service, Zacch A. Adedeji PhD
The team presented strategies to boost government revenue through tax reforms, improved compliance, expansion of the tax net, and optimisation of non-oil revenue streams. Emphasis was placed on sustaining the gains from ongoing fiscal reforms and strengthening institutions responsible for revenue generation.
