Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State is scheduled to officially unveil the newly completed LGS2 Data Centre on 10 April 2025, at the Lagos House in Marina.
The cutting-edge facility, managed by Rack Centre, represents a major milestone in Nigeria’s digital infrastructure journey.
Confirming his participation in the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed enthusiasm about the centre’s inauguration.
“It was encouraging to learn about Rack Centre’s upcoming launch of its new $120 million Tier III data centre, known as LGS2. This development will not only expand Rack Centre’s footprint across West Africa but also cement Lagos’s standing as a major force in the region’s tech ecosystem,” he said.
Described by Rack Centre’s Chief Executive Officer, Lars Johannisson, as a “monumental leap” for Nigeria’s digital advancement, the LGS2 facility is expected to redefine the benchmark for data centres in the country.
Johannisson pointed out that the new 12-megawatt IT load facility will effectively double the nation’s current data centre capacity, equipping businesses with flexible, high-performance infrastructure as they adapt to the demands of the digital age.
He also reaffirmed the company’s dedication to building infrastructure that is not only dependable and scalable but also environmentally conscious—supporting the expansion of Nigeria’s fast-evolving digital economy.
