Sanwo-Olu pledges enhanced sports infrastructure, welcomes students athletes

Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has pledged the State’s renewwd commitment to transforming Lagos State into a premier global sporting hub by significantly increasing investment in grassroots sports infrastructure and youth development.
The Governor made this declaration during a special reception held at the Lagos State House, Marina, to honor student-athletes who recently returned from the World School Games and African Youth Games with an impressive haul of medals.
Beyond celebrating the immediate victory, the Governor framed the historic feat as a proof of concept for the state's strategic focus on young talent.
In his address, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the state’s role is to provide the world-class facilities and strategic partnerships necessary to ensure that the potential of young Lagosians is fully realized on the global stage.
“Their success is a proud moment for Lagos, but it is also a testament to what happens when hard work meets opportunity,” the Governor stated.
Earlier, the Director-General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr. Lekan Fatodu, commended the athletes for their resilience and discipline.
He noted that the ongoing efforts to develop grassroots sports are already yielding tangible results, positioning the state as a center for excellence.
The event concluded with the presentation of commendations to the young champions, intended to serve as a catalyst for the next generation of Nigerian athletes.
