…Says PDP structure has collapsed in Lagos
…As party leaders warn supporters against complacency

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to intensify grassroots mobilisation through a robust house-to-house campaign aimed at securing victory in the forthcoming July 12 local government elections.

Speaking through his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, at the Lagos West 2 Senatorial District Mega Rally held in Ijanikin on Monday, the governor encouraged party supporters to convert their loyalty into tangible electoral success, stressing that public demonstrations alone would not win elections.

“There is no other party in Lagos State that matches the APC in terms of development and service to the grassroots. The PDP’s influence has faded. Let us not let our leaders down. Let us demonstrate pride in what we are building in Lagos,” Sanwo-Olu said.

He continued, “It’s not about placards and chants; it’s about votes. Your PVCs are what count. Go out and vote massively for APC candidates. Secure victory in every ward.”

The rally formed part of the APC’s broader strategy to retain its dominance across the local councils in Lagos.

Lagos APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, urged voters to back the party in recognition of the developmental efforts of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sanwo-Olu.

“All we ask is your vote. President Tinubu and Governor Sanwo-Olu have invested significantly in Lagos West. This is the time to show appreciation. Let’s mobilise fully and deliver total victory for the APC,” Ojelabi said.

He appealed to youths, clerics, market associations, and cultural groups to rally around the party’s candidates and ensure a strong turnout on election day.

Chairman of the APC Campaign Council, Alhaji Babatunde Balogun, also stressed the importance of party unity, calling on all aggrieved members to put aside differences for the greater good of the APC.

Echoing similar sentiments, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, a member of the Lagos Governance Advisory Council (GAC), described the upcoming council elections as crucial to building political momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“This is not just a local council poll. It is a strategic phase in strengthening our position ahead of 2027. Every vote matters,” Obanikoro noted.

Also addressing the rally, former Deputy Governor Princess Sarah Sosan called on women to turn out in large numbers, saying the election presents an opportunity to demonstrate their political influence and affirm their support for President Tinubu.

“Let us make our father, the president, proud. Women must show up and be counted,” she declared.

The event drew a broad coalition of supporters including members of the Governance Advisory Council, federal and state legislators, party officials, ethnic community leaders, market heads, and youth organisations, all reaffirming their commitment to delivering victory for the APC on July 12.
