The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially approved a high-powered leadership structure for its 2026 National Convention by inaugurating several specialized sub-committees. In a move aimed at ensuring a transparent and credible process, the party has mobilized a formidable team of governors, veteran legislators, and cabinet members to oversee the administrative and electoral frameworks of the event.
At the heart of the convention’s democratic process, former Governor Aminu Bello Masari has been appointed to chair the Election Committee, supported by Co-Chairman Senator Anyim Pius Anyim and Vice Chairmen Governor Uba Sani and Governor Monday Okpebholo.
Tasked with resolving potential disputes arising from these polls, the Election Appeal Committee will be led by Governor Agbu Kefas as Chairman and Governor Siminalayi Fubara as Co-Chairman.
Ensuring the eligibility of all candidates, the Aspirants’ Screening Committee is headed by Governor Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji, with Governor Usman Ododo serving as Co-Chairman. To handle grievances from the screening phase, the Screening Appeal Committee will be chaired by Governor Umar Namadi and supported by Governor Francis Nwifuru and the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The party has also tapped top-tier expertise for its operational safety and funding, with the Security Committee chaired by retired General Christopher Gwabin Musa and Mallam Nuhu Ribadu serving as Vice Chairman.
The Finance Committee is led by Governor Hope Uzodimma as Chairman and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as Co-Chairman, while Governor Mai Mala Buni and Information Minister Muhammed Idris Malagi oversee the Media and Publicity Committee.
To manage the complex logistics of the gathering, Governor Babagana Umar Zulum will chair the Delegates’ Accreditation Committee while Minister of Works Dave Umahi takes charge of the Accommodation and Transportation Committee.
The Legal Advisory Committee will be directed by the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, to ensure all proceedings adhere to the party’s constitution.
In a statement on Wednesday, the APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka stated that all members are expected to discharge their duties with strict adherence to approved guidelines, emphasizing that this structured approach is intended to strengthen internal democracy and solidify the APC’s progressive ideals.
