A 20-year-old salesman, Samuel Adebayo, who allegedly stole his employer’s N850,000 on Friday appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court.
Adebayo, whose address was not provided, is facing a three-count charge bordering on stealing and breach of peace.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences in October 2026 at Oja Oba Market in Ado-Ekiti.
Oriyomi alleged that the defendant stole the money belonging to the complainant, Mrs Nike Falegan.
He also alleged that the defendant stole two packs of noodles valued at N19,000 from the complainant.
Oriyomi said that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to breach the peace when he was confronted.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 302, 302 and 181(d) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him study the file and assemble his witnesses.
Defence Counsel, Mr Oluwafemi Alabi, urged the court to grant his client bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until Nov. 24 for mention.
