A man identified as Adisa Akorede Abudujelili has been accused of engaging in same-sex activities, leading to public outrage and calls for his arrest.
The accussed was alleged involved in the act at a funeral gathering in Lagos on December 23, 2023.
According to sources familiar with the incident, Adisa attended the funeral ceremony to retrieve his international passport from his former fiancée, Mrs. Bola Lawal, following the end of their relationship.
However, the situation turned dramatic when Lawal allegedly revealed she could no longer continue the relationship due to evidence linking him to same-sex activities with another man, identified simply as Mr. Goriola.
Witnesses claimed that screenshots of chats, photographs, and other incriminating materials allegedly connected to Adisa and his associate circulated among attendees, causing an uproar that quickly spread to the wider public.
Sources further disclosed that the development forced the accused to flee the area as angry youths began trailing him following the exposure.
It was gathered that members of Adisa’s family subsequently appealed to the Lawal family to keep the matter private to prevent further escalation within the community.
In a recent development, however, relatives of Mrs. Lawal and members of the Akinyele family reportedly submitted evidence including screenshots, photographs, and videos to security agencies and local groups, demanding a formal investigation.
The families have reportedly approached the police, local vigilante groups, and members of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), urging authorities to ensure that Adisa Abudujelili and his involved partners are brought to justice in accordance with the law.
Community sources alleged that local youths are continuing to pressure security agencies to locate the suspects, arguing that their disappearance poses a threat to innocent individuals who may be lured into similar acts.
While there has been no official confirmation from the Nigeria Police Force regarding arrests or formal charges, reports indicate that security operatives and local vigilante groups have intensified efforts to locate the suspects, who have remained out of public sight since the incident.
Efforts to obtain an official statement from police authorities were unsuccessful as of press time.
