The manager of late Tiyamiyu Kazeem, vice-captain of Remo Stars F.C., has narrated the events surrounding the footballer’s death on February 22, 2020.

Speaking on the incident, the player’s agent, Aramide, said the tragic event occurred shortly after the team returned from a training session earlier that day.

According to him, Kazeem had informed him of his plan to visit his father after training.
“We had just returned from football training and were waiting to watch the English Premier League together when Kaka said he wanted to go and see his dad,” he said.

Aramide added that he asked the late footballer to help him buy beans on his way, before Kazeem left with his teammate, Sanni Abubakar.

He, however, said he received a distress call shortly after their departure.

“Just a few minutes after they left, Sanni called me and said Kaka had been killed by SARS. I couldn’t believe it. That was how everything changed,” he said.

He explained that the incident occurred along the Sagamu–Abeokuta Expressway, where Kazeem was allegedly arrested by operatives of the now-defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

“The next thing I heard, he was gone,” Aramide added.
Describing the late footballer, he insisted that Kazeem was not a criminal but a promising athlete and leader.

“He was a footballer, a leader, and a young man with a future. He didn’t die — he was killed,” he said.

Kazeem’s death sparked widespread outrage at the time and renewed calls for reforms and accountability over the activities of SARS operatives in Nigeria
