Reactions trail to Gov Umahi’s N36bn airport named after Buhari in Ebonyi

Mixed reactions have continued to trail the recently launched international Airport in Ebonyi State, which the government claimed cost a whopping N36 billion.

Governor Dave Umahi had disclosed that the Airport located in Onueke, Ezza South Local Government in the state would employ over 400 citizens.

The Airport, named after President Muhammadu Buhari, is billed for commissioning next week.

Nearly all states in Nigeria have airports except a few.

Out of the 32 domestic and International Airports in the country, 26 are managed by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), while five are functional international airports.

Nigerians react on Twitter:

@DrJoeAbah:
“See all the “Good development but..” in the comments. “But does Ebonyi need an airport?”; “But the architectural design”; “But the colours”,; “But the lights”; “But the concrete roads”; “But.

@Aje:
White elephant koh, black bear ni. This is what Peter Obi couldn’t do for you in 8 years. A Governor in your region accomplished this feat… and instead of you thinking of how to make the infrastructure work for you, you are denigrating it because an APC governor did it. SMH

@NdukaOdili:
Waste of investment; how many ordinary people in the state can afford air fees and beauty amid poverty

@bigger_stan:
When I looked at the Airport, I thought it was a college, only when I heard the word airport. That Airport is of low standard compared to the airports in Ghana and Ethiopia. I laugh at his greatest achievement. But wait a minute; I saw the chandelier.
