President Tinubu to headline 61st Argungu fishing festival in Kebbi

President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to arrive in Kebbi State on Saturday for a high-profile one-day official visit.

A key highlight of the trip will be the President's role as the Special Guest of Honour at the grand finale of the 2026 Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival.

This 61st edition of the festival, which concludes on February 14, remains a premier cultural landmark for Nigeria and Africa, drawing global attention to the historic riverside of Matan Fada.

The site holds international prestige, having been formally recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Beyond the cultural celebrations, the President’s visit focuses on regional development and the commissioning of several key infrastructure projects.

These projects, executed under the administration of Governor Nasir Idris, are aimed at boosting the state's socio-economic landscape and aligning with the federal government's developmental goals.

The visit underscores the strategic partnership between the state and federal government in preserving Nigeria's rich cultural history while simultaneously driving modern growth through improved infrastructure.
