President Bola Tinubu has charged the Minister of Works, Engineer David Umahi to accelerate Nigeria’s infrastructural development on the occasion of his 63rd birthday on Saturday, July 25, 2026.

Commending the Minister’s passion, dedication to duty, and patriotism, the President lauded his sustained drive toward delivering durable road infrastructure across the country.

President Tinubu urged Umahi to accelerate ongoing road construction, rehabilitation, and project delivery in alignment with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to elevate citizens’ quality of life and stimulate economic growth.

“Engineer Umahi has been one of my outstanding, hardworking ministers, passionate about the job and delivering durable roads and bridges that will last for about a century.”

“As a minister, he does not just sit in his office or rely on reports from subordinates; he is constantly on the road, personally monitoring construction work nationwide to ensure compliance with specifications and approvals,” he said.

Prior to his appointment as Minister of Works, Engineer Umahi briefly served as the Senator representing Ebonyi South Senatorial District.

He previously served two terms as the Governor of Ebonyi State from May 2015 to May 2023, during which the state recorded significant infrastructural expansion.

Celebrating alongside the Minister’s family and associates, President Tinubu prayed for his continued good health and renewed strength in his service to the nation.
