Pres. Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged the people of Ekiti State to re-elect Governor Biodun Oyebanji in Saturday’s governorship election.
The President made the appeal on Tuesday during the grand finale of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship campaign in Ekiti. He was represented at the event by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Pres. Tinubu praised the people of Ekiti for their continued support for the APC and described Oyebanji as a leader who understands the needs of the people. According to him, the governor has shown humility, patience, and commitment in governing the state.
The President said Oyebanji had maintained good relationships with farmers, traders, students, traditional rulers, and political leaders. He added that the Governor’s achievements in office, including infrastructure projects, had demonstrated his readiness and ability to lead.
Pres. Tinubu also noted that Oyebanji enjoys the support of former Governors and political leaders in the state. He called on Ekiti residents to vote massively for the Governor to enable him continue his developmental programmes.
The rally attracted top APC leaders from across the country, including governors, senators, members of the House of Representatives, and party officials. Among those present were Senate President Godswill Akpabio and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda.
Speaking at the event, Sen. Akpabio described Gov. Oyebanji as a peaceful and humble leader whose achievements have been felt across the state. He urged voters to support both the Governor and the APC.
Gov. Uba Sani, who chairs the APC National Campaign Council, expressed confidence that Gov. Oyebanji would win the election. He said the governor had recorded notable achievements in education, workers’ welfare, transportation, road construction, and human capital development.
In his remarks, Gov. Oyebanji thanked party leaders and supporters for their confidence in him. He said he was relying on his record of performance and fulfilment of campaign promises made in 2022.
The Governor appealed to residents to remain peaceful during the election and assured them that a second term would bring even greater development to the state. Former Governor Ayodele Fayose also endorsed Gov. Oyebanji, describing him as a unifying leader who has brought political stability to Ekiti.
