Nigeria’s electricity generation on the national grid has plummeted to 449.20 megawatts (MW) indicating severe system disturbances across the transmission network.

Operational data on the NISO grid portal as of 11:00 am showed that only four generation companies (GenCos) were actively supplying power to the grid, while major thermal and hydropower stations remained shut down.

A breakdown of active output indicated that Egbin Power Plc accounted for the largest share with 112.00MW, while Afam III Fast Power contributed 69.30MW. The remaining volume was split between two other operational plants.

Key generating stations including Kainji Hydro, Jebba Hydro, Dadin Kowa, Delta Gas, Alaoji NIPP, Geregu Gas, Geregu NIPP, Odukpani NIPP, GPAL, Ihovbor NIPP, MEPP, and Afam VI all recorded zero output at the time of reporting.
The sharp drop in generation has triggered widespread load shedding across distribution company networks, worsening supply deficits for homes and commercial establishments across the country as grid operators work to stabilize the system.
