Portugal, Korea progress to WTT Contender Lagos semi-finals

Portugal’s Fu Yu and Jieni Shao booked their spot in the semi-finals of the WTT Contender Lagos after defeating Nigeria’s Kabirat Ayoola and Aishat Rabiu in an intense women’s doubles quarter-final.
The match, held at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Hall in Teslim Balogun Stadium, saw the Portuguese duo win 3–1 (11–5, 6–11, 12–10, 11–3). They had earlier eliminated another Nigerian pair, Favour Ojo and Kadijat Okanlawon, in a previous round.
Korea’s Kim Nayeona and Hanna Ryu also secured a semi-final berth with a dominant straight-set win over Nigeria’s Abosede Akinsete and Abosede Odusanya, finishing 3–0 (11–6, 11–2, 11–6).
The WTT Contender Lagos continues to draw top international talent, with players vying for the prestigious title and a share of the $100,000 prize pool. The event has been marked by energetic crowds and high-intensity matches as competitors battle for glory.
