Popular Nigerian Actress, Mercy Johnson narrates journey with cancer
Popular Nigerian actress and producer, Mercy Johnson Okojie has shared the experience of her journey on life medication after being diagnosed with cancer.
The actress made the disclosure about a cancer scare that made her doctors to place her on life medication during the latest episode of her Youtube cooking show, Mercy’s Menu.
The actress further revealed that she had surgery where her thyroid – a gland in the throat – was removed, and she was placed on strict medication for life.
Speaking for the first time about her life-changing surgery and how she managed to survive cancer, Mercy said “I had a cancer scare in quote, and I had like my thyroid removed. And this was like a journey for my husband and I because we had kids.
“My last baby was 6 months old when we knew about it, and during the surgery, I found out that I had to live the rest of my life on medication.
“It was a reality that we had to face. You know, them giving me timing and telling me you can’t miss your medication. Once you wake up that’s the first thing. Telling me all of the side effects.”

Ayra Starr releases artwork, track list for ‘Sophomore Album’
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that album featured some heavyweights across different countries in the world like Nigeria’s Asake and Seyi Vibes, America’s Giveon and Coco Jones, and Brazil’s Anitta, amongst others.
Starr is a Nigerian singer and songwriter, who began a fashion career at the age of 16 with Quove Model Management before deciding to pursue a career in music.
After covering several songs by popular artists on Instagram, she posted her first original song on her page in December 2019.
The posting brought her to the attention of record executive Don Jazzy, who later signed her to his record label Marvin Record.
The singer later achieved mainstream international recognition in 2022, with the released of her song “Rush”.
The song charted in several territories, including Switzerland, Ireland and the United Kingdom, where it peaked at number 24.
The song earned Starr her first nomination at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards for Best African Music Performance.
With the song, Starr became the youngest African Female Artist to surpass 100 Million views on a single video on YouTube, and also the first to do so within five months.

Seyi Tinubu has offered to reconcile Wizkid, Davido – Lege Miami
Nigerian actor and singer, Adams Kehinde, popularly known as Lege Miami, has said the president’s son, Seyi Tinubu, has offered warring Afrobeats stars, Wizkid and Davido.
Wizkid and Davido were recently engaged in a fierce social media war on X.
Reacting, Lege Miami cautioned the duo to put themselves in order, saying he has reported the issue to Seyi Tinubu.
Speaking in a video message shared via his Instagram account, the actor said Tinubu has offered to reconcile Wizkid and Davido in the United Kingdom.
He said, “Wizkid and Davido both of you need to take time. I have reported you guys to Seyi Tinubu, he said he’ll fly to UK in three days to settle the fight.”
Efforts to reconcile Wizkid and Davido over the years have proved abortive, as the duo always rekindles their beef after every reconciliation.

Drop hit song, stop chasing clout – Doyin, Tacha blast Wizkid
Ex-Big Brother Naija housemates, Doyin and Tacha, have slammed Wizkid for ‘chasing clout’ and disrespecting Don Jazzy on social media.
NEWSMEN reported that Wizkid was on a banter spree on Monday after throwing shade at Davido and Don Jazzy on X.
Reacting, Doyin said the Starboy boss was chasing clout and should desist to focus on releasing songs.
She particularly lashed out at Wizkid for “disrespecting” Don Jazzy.
She wrote on her Instagram page: “Don Jazzy is still the JayZ of the Nigerian music industry. If you try to disrespect him, it just shows your head is not correct. No be to dey chase clout, drop hit!”
Tacha warned Wizkid that any slander or disrespect towards Don Jazzy would not be tolerated.
Speaking in a video message on her social media, Tacha noted that Don Jazzy has made significant impacts on the Nigerian music industry.
Tacha said: “No Don Jazzy slander will be tolerated. Don Jazzy’s impact on the entertainment industry can never be overemphasized.
“If you have to take off Don Jazzy’s inputs on the industry, that would be you taking half of Afrobeats away. Because who would you be listening to? Don Jazzy has grown a lot of global superstars.
“This is somebody that doesn’t restrict himself to the music industry alone. Don Jazzy is there for everybody regardless of their status.”
