The Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party (CP-PDP) has called for decisive action against party members involved in activities deemed detrimental to the party’s unity and success.
The National Coordinator of CP-PDP, Obinna Nwachukwu, made this appeal in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja.
Nwachukwu emphasised the need for the PDP leadership to take swift and firm action to prevent internal discord from escalating into a full-blown crisis.
He urged the party’s National Disciplinary Committee to expedite the review of all pending petitions and take appropriate measures to address violations.
“The CP-PDP has noted the delay by the party’s leadership in exercising its statutory powers to impose necessary sanctions on erring members, as outlined in Articles 57, 58, and 59 of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017).
“This delay has emboldened anti-party activities, including disruptive litigation, inflammatory statements, and divisive rhetoric, all of which threaten to weaken our party and undermine its electoral prospects, ultimately to the detriment of Nigerians.
“As professionals and committed PDP members, we believe that our party, which remains the preferred choice for Nigerians, must not be derailed by the ambitions and subversive actions of a few individuals who no longer uphold the PDP’s core values, shared vision of selflessness, and commitment to a better Nigeria,” Nwachukwu said.
Nwachukwu also praised the governors elected on the PDP platform for their steadfastness and unwavering commitment to the party during this critical period.
He reassured party members, democracy advocates, and Nigerians at large that the PDP remains a united, resilient, and formidable force that will emerge from its current challenges stronger than ever
