Police unveil security measures for installation of Olubadan

The Oyo State Police Command has announced comprehensive security measures ahead of the installation of Oba Rasidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, scheduled for Friday.

In a statement on Thursday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Adewale Osifeso, said the security plan was designed to guarantee a safe and peaceful ceremony, which is expected to attract dignitaries and guests from across Nigeria and beyond.

Osifeso explained that the measures will include confidence-building patrols, heightened surveillance, and intelligence-driven stop-and-search operations across the state. He added that special attention would be given to entry and exit points, as well as major public facilities such as parks, train stations, and the Samuel Ladoke Akintola International Airport.

The police also disclosed that some roads leading to Mapo Hall, the venue of the coronation, would be closed to traffic from 7:00 a.m. on Friday. The restricted routes include Beere Junction towards Mapo Hall, Born Photo Junction towards Oja’ba, Idi-Arere Junction towards Oja’ba, and Itamerin Junction towards Mapo Hall.

Residents were advised to plan alternative routes to avoid delays.

“The Command issues a stern warning against any form of public disorder, including unauthorized processions and movements within the metropolis before, during, and after the event,” Osifeso said.

He assured the public of adequate protection of lives and property, urging residents to comply with security directives and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through emergency lines.
