The Katsina State Police Command has apprehended a seven-man gang accused of armed robbery and breaking into shops within the state capital.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Abubakar Aliyu, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, disclosed the arrests while briefing journalists in Katsina on Monday.

DSP Aliyu said the operation followed a complaint lodged at Sabon Gari Police Division after hoodlums allegedly forced entry into a shop located behind Katsina Central Market.

“Following the report, detectives of the Command acted promptly, tracked the suspects to their hideout at Shararrar Pipe Quarters, Katsina, and carried out their arrest,” he stated.

The suspects, aged between 19 and 34, were discovered in possession of weapons. Recovered items included two cutlasses, two long sharp knives, two clubs, one iron rod, and a black beret.

DSP Aliyu confirmed that investigations are ongoing and assured that the suspects will be arraigned in court once the inquiry is concluded.
