The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 11 Headquarters, Osogbo, Bassey Ewah, has ordered the immediate release of a student arrested following an alleged police assault in Ede, Osun State.
The student’s release followed an interactive meeting held on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, between the AIG, representatives of the student body and the affected suspects.
The development was disclosed in a press release issued on Thursday, by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, Zone 11 Headquarters, Osogbo, SP Ojedеnе Olanrewaju Tunji.
During the meeting, Ewah assured the students that a thorough and impartial investigation would be conducted to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.
He urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding, adding that appropriate steps were being taken to address the matter and ensure justice.
The police reiterated its commitment to addressing the allegations and ensuring that the circumstances surrounding the incident are properly investigated.
