Police, party seek arrest of bisexual councillorship candidate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has expelled its 2024 councillorship candidate for Ward 7, Egbeda Local Government Area, Hon. Oladimeji Abdulkabiru, over allegations of engaging in same-sex relationships.

Hon. Abdulkabiru, who has been on the run since June 12, 2024, is accused of involvement in bisexual activities, which the party described as “immoral and disgraceful.”

In a disclaimer letter dated Monday July 15, 2024, issued by the APC Secretariat in Ibadan, the party said it had submitted evidence and information about the alleged conduct to the Iyaganku Divisional Police Office.

The APC Publicity Secretary in Oyo State, Mr Olawale Sadare, condemned the leaked photographs allegedly showing Hon. Abdulkabiru’s same-sex activities, describing them as a major embarrassment to the party.

Sadare said: “This is a shameful act capable of destroying the party’s reputation and giving undue advantage to opposition parties. Our party does not condone immorality or indiscipline.

He will be punished and handed over to the authorities, but unfortunately, he fled. We have called on the police to ensure justice is served.”

The Oyo State Police Command, through its spokesperson SP Adewale Osifeso, confirmed a manhunt has been launched for Hon. Abdulkabiru. Osifeso added that a bounty has been placed on the fugitive to encourage the public to provide information leading to his arrest.
