Police mount manhunt for fleeing convict who murdered traditional ruler, uncle over land dispute

Law enforcement agents are on the lookout for a 20 year old man, Chinonso Nwabuife, who escaped from Benin prison along with other prisoners during the jail break that took place at the facility in 2009.

Nwabuife who was jailed in 2005, when he was 16years old for murdering his uncle, Christopher and his traditional ruler, king Edward when he could not get justice over a piece of land bequeathed to him by his late father.

The convict who hails from lwollo community, Ezeagu local government area of Enugu state,it was gathered reported his uncle, Mr Christopher to their traditional ruler over ownership of the disputed land, hoping to get justice but it seemed that his uncle,a wealthy businessman,was said to be rightful owner of the land in question and Nwabuife could not stomach it and unalived the duo , believing that the traditional ruler must have collected bribe to bent justice.

As a result,he was arrested, tried, convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment and remanded at Benin prison, Edo state , otherwise known as "white House". Since the jail break at which Nwabuife escaped with other inmates, the Nigerian Prison Authority has thus placed financial compensation to be given to anybody that can help in unraveling the whereabouts of Mr Chinonso Nwabuife and the other escapees of the ill-fated jail break.

It was also gathered that the gory incident has thrown the hitherto serene lwollo community into mourning, while they are now without a royal father.
