The Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has declared Mrs. Iretioluwa Oluwaseun Adegbuyi, 36, a person of interest in an ongoing investigation over her alleged involvement in a same-sex act at Intercat Hotel, Eleyele, Ibadan.
According to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), preliminary investigations revealed that Adegbuyi and another woman were discovered in a compromising position on the hotel premises on March 22, 2023, in violation of the Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act, 2014.
Hotel staff reportedly identified Adegbuyi, prompting the police to launch investigative procedures, including visits to her residence and inquiries within her neighborhood. Efforts to reach the suspect have been unsuccessful, and she is believed to have fled her home to evade arrest.
Police have also contacted her immediate family but her whereabouts remain unknown.
Authorities have urged Adegbuyi to report to the nearest police station or the Oyo State CID in Eleyele, Ibadan, to assist with the investigation.
The force warned that failure to comply may result in the issuance of an arrest warrant and further enforcement actions under Nigerian law. Members of the public with information on her location are urged to contact the Oyo State Command.
